YOUR CONCERN, IN CONTEXT

Volume, lips & skin quality

Face and lip treatments can target skin quality, shape or volume. Start by describing the change you want; these are different goals even when formulations share an ingredient.

Understand the concern

Define the intended change

Injected fillers can add volume or support. Lip revitalisation with cosmetic microneedling has a different aim and route. A topical formulation should not be treated as an injectable because of its ingredient list.

Ask what the formulation is designed to do

The material, cross-linking, concentration and delivery method affect the intended effect. A trial of a particular injectable lip filler does not support a claim for every HA product or a topical booster.

Discuss correction and risk

Ask about swelling, the assessment date and the plan for an unwanted result or complication. “Dissolvable” does not mean risk-free or that every outcome is easily reversed.

Take these questions

Your consultation checklist

Start a conversation about the exact concern, product and plan.

Use relevant checklist questions
  1. What improvement is realistic for me and what are the alternatives?
  2. What are the risks, recovery time and plan if something goes wrong?
  3. What exact product or device will you use and can I see its patient information?
  4. What symptoms need urgent care and whom can I contact after hours?
