About this guide

Understanding a treatment should come before choosing it.

Our purpose

We bring together treatment research, official guidance and published patient experiences in plain language. Our aim is to help current and potential patients weigh possible benefits, limitations, recovery and risks. Deciding against treatment is a valid outcome.

Education without a sales agenda

We created this resource to inform, with no commercial purpose. We do not sell treatments, take bookings or use reader information for marketing. We want you to understand the options and decide at your own pace.

How to read our sources

Professional and regulatory sources explain recognised practice, safety concerns or local rules. Research papers address specific questions in defined groups of people. Manufacturer information explains named products and is labelled separately. None of these makes every product within a category equivalent.

What patient experiences add

Personal accounts can raise useful questions about recovery, expectations and aftercare. We summarise selected positive and negative accounts and link to their context. We cannot verify every identity, diagnosis or reported cause. These accounts do not establish how often an outcome occurs.

Updates and corrections

We revisit explanations when relevant research or safety guidance changes. Review figures are saved snapshots and may differ from the source’s current figures. To flag an error, share the page address, the passage concerned and a source we can check.
