Skin laxity & loss of firmness
A tightening device, a suspension thread and surgery do different things. The degree and location of laxity help define the questions to ask before choosing among them.
Understand the concern
Ask what needs to change
A modest change in firmness is different from repositioning tissue or removing excess skin. Ask which part of your concern the proposed treatment addresses and which part it will leave unchanged.
Look beyond the device name
External RF, RF microneedling and microfocused ultrasound are distinct approaches. Evidence from one device and protocol does not apply automatically to other energy settings, treatment depths or treatment areas.
Compare the commitment
Discuss expected magnitude, recovery, maintenance and what happens if improvement is limited. Threads and surgery have their own limitations and risks; they are not simply stronger settings of a non-invasive device.
Your consultation checklist
Start a conversation about the exact concern, product and plan.
Use relevant checklist questions- What improvement is realistic for me and what are the alternatives?
- What training do you have, including experience with my skin tone?
- What are the risks, recovery time and plan if something goes wrong?
- Which device and applicator are planned and why are they suitable for my skin and treatment area?
