Polynucleotides, beyond the buzz.
Polynucleotides (PN) are DNA-derived materials being studied for skin rejuvenation. A product category is not a guarantee of a result.
A closer look at one trial
A randomized study treated 27 participants around the eyes, comparing a PN injectable on one side with a non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid product on the other. Some measured skin properties favored PN; overall aesthetic improvement scores did not differ significantly.
What that does—and does not—show
This supports further interest in that specific injectable and protocol. A small study cannot establish every product’s effectiveness or detect every rare risk. These results do not automatically apply to PDRN serums, different formulations, or other application methods.
Our perspective
Ask for human data on the actual product and intended use, alongside its local regulatory status. A biological explanation alone does not establish a clinical benefit.
“Do the studies involve this exact formulation, treatment area and application method?”
