YOUR CONCERN, IN CONTEXT

Uneven tone & pigmentation

A similar-looking patch of colour can have a different explanation in different people. A consultation should clarify what is being treated before discussing an acid, wavelength or treatment depth.

Understand the concern

Name the concern first

Ask whether the colour change relates to sun damage, previous inflammation or another condition. A procedure name alone does not explain which cause it is intended to address. New or changing marks need assessment before a cosmetic treatment.

Match the approach to the skin

Peels and light-based procedures act differently. The proposed acid or device, your skin tone and the risk of further pigment change belong in the same conversation. Daily protection and preparation may be part of the plan.

Plan beyond the appointment

Ask how improvement will be assessed, whether repeat sessions are likely and what aftercare is needed. Results and recovery depend on the exact protocol; treating colour does not automatically improve every texture concern.

Take these questions

Your consultation checklist

Start a conversation about the exact concern, product and plan.

Use relevant checklist questions
  1. What improvement is realistic for me and what are the alternatives?
  2. What training do you have, including experience with my skin tone?
  3. Do my medical history, medicines, allergies or previous treatments change the risks?
  4. Which acids, concentration and peel depth are planned and how will you protect my skin?
