Trichloroacetic acid (TCA)

Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) is a chemical peeling agent. TCA peel names identify an ingredient rather than a universal depth or recovery period. Professional assessment and the exact formulation matter.

Ingredient and depth

The concentration, formulation, number of applications and contact time influence how a peel acts. A percentage alone cannot establish a safe treatment or tell you how deeply every finished formula penetrates.

Different formulas need different evidence

A conventional TCA peel and a combined or modified acid formula are not interchangeable protocols. Product-specific instructions and evidence should support the proposed goal, area and skin type.

Risks and consultation

Burns, infection, pigment changes and scars are possible. Discuss your skin tone, recent sun exposure, medicines, recovery and aftercare with the practitioner. Strong chemical peels are not suitable for improvised home use.
